Building confidence one inch at a time

Bar Method as a Mood Booster

It’s a tale as old as time, working out does a body good, right?! Well, Yes! Obviously, it does. We all know that. But have you ever really given thought to the fact that it’s good for your mental health and wellness as well? There are many reasons why this is true and I thought I’d go over just a few of them, and share specifically how The Bar Method instantly brightens my mood.

Friends

I don’t know about you, but when I come into the studio I look forward to who I’ll be seeing there! I’ve made some of my truest and closest friends from being an instructor at our Dr. Phillips studio location in Orlando, Florida. No matter if it is to come in to teach or to take class, I know as soon as I walk into the studio, I’ll be surrounded by joy and laughter. It’s an amazing place! Honestly (not to brag too much about our Orlando locations) I will say the camaraderie of our instructors and the clients is truly special. This alone will brighten your day! So, find yourself a partner in crime. Whether they already are loyal Bar Method clients or you sweet talk a friend into coming with you. The motivation from each other will instantly boost your mood in class and make you work harder. Trust me!

Endorphins

Y’all have heard about these endorphin thingamabobs too right? Well, not to get too “sciencey”on ya, but this one is actually scientifically proven. As you perform activity and exert energy your body releases chemicals that send signals to your brain. These signals help to reduce theperception of pain your body may be going through at the time. It may seem odd that this is a good thing, but it is. As intense as a workout can be, your brain is more powerful than you think and can make you work harder than you ever could have imagined. The high you get from these “feel good” hormones are quite powerful. It’s like a drug, but these babies are good for you. Releasing endorphins daily ultimately helps in alleviating anxiety and reduces signs of depression. Life if hard, so why not take action of the things you can control to help in any way possible, am I right?!

Persistence

Another feel good action to not only boost your mood, but also your confidence is being persistent. Keeping to a schedule and holding yourself accountable is something that gets me pretty pumped and proud. I absolutely love it when I can look back at a week and be like “Damn, I Killed It!” I’m the type of person who likes to plan things out. If you’re not so much, that’s ok. Try to hold yourself accountable though. One day at a time. From there, you can work yourself up to more. Look at the week ahead (or day) and check your studio’s schedule. Sign up for the classes that work for you, and put it into your calendar like an appointment. Maybe see which ones your fellow Barre Babes are attending, take from your favorite teacher to help get you through it, or challenge yourself to take a Bar Advanced or a BarMove class to switch it up.

PLAN AHEAD & STAY ON TOP OF IT!

You’ll be surprised how good just the planning and follow through makes you feel.

Change

The funny thing with persistence, also comes change. We all know this makes us feel our absolute best. We all have many different reasons as to why we go to The Bar Method. Whether it’s to get away for an hour of your day, or to work on yourself physically and mentally - we are here for YOU!

Now, I’m sure y’all were thinking I was going to only talk about the physical change The Bar Method provides! That’s a big part of it don’t get me wrong, but it can also change your general mood, and how you feel about yourself tremendously. The Bar Method is a safe place for you to make whatever change you personally are looking for. Whether you struggle with weight

loss goals or just need a community to be a part of to brighten your spirits, we’ve got you covered. Once you start feeling and seeing “the change,” your confidence levels will rise & others will take notice.

Bar Method as a Mood Booster

So, I encourage you to take all of this into thought the next time you go into class. Surround yourself with people who build you up. Head into class determined to work hard and create the change that you’re looking for. Just know that by kicking your own butt, mentally and physically for 45-60 minutes, you’re only going to feel better about you when class is finished. One last thing I want you to challenge yourself with before I wrap this up… Next time in class when your instructor asks you if you’re able to drop it one inch lower in that final set of thigh, tell yourself, “YES!” You most definitely can! Find your light & empower yourself to push through. I promise you will feel a sense of accomplishment & be proud you slayed that last 30 seconds of what at the time felt like an eternity.

Hi friends,

If y'all got a peak at my New Year's resolution post then, you already know that I was saying I was going to try to change my ways and start a new diet plan. Well... it's been a week & I thought I'd share a little more insight about what it is exactly.

THE DIET

So basically I'm testing out this whole "CARB CYCLING" plan. I've started tracking my intake again, which sounds like such a pain & I'm not gonna lie at first it was, but now I'm kinda getting into more because I have a better idea of what I'm able to eat throughout the day. I'm using the MY FITNESS PAL app to track everything & if you aren't familiar with it, it's absolutely amazing! It makes it so easy. The search base is huge plus you can easily scan the bar code from your food item & it plugs all the info in for ya. When it come to what I'm watching, my focus is on the protein, carbs, & fat. Counting macros is what they like to call it... I say they because I'm not a crazy body builder or fitness buff by any means but if you're in that field then that's what I think they live by. So this will very for everyone because it's based off of your age, height, weight... I just googled search to find my macros & I'm going off of that. But I'm watching my intake in those 3 fields. Calories really don't play a huge part in it... I mean they do, but it's more important to follow the gram amount of the other things.

I'm not gonna lie, it was really kind of hard at first. Just figuring out my carbs was the biggest pain in the ass lol. Even though I knocked out the bread, you would be surprised how many of those buggers hide in other things. After a few days of trial & error I finally figured out a pattern of things I could eat throughout the day that sustains my appetite & also falls in suit with my goal.

WHAT I'M EATING

Here's just a few of the things I've found to be working for me:

Eggs

Greek Yogurt (I love the Chobani ones)

Cottage Cheese (Good Culture is delicious)

String Cheese

Deli Meats

Broccoli

Spinach

Brussel Sprouts

Chicken

Steak

Salmon

Tilapia

Tuna (to go has been a life saver for work)

Ezekiel Bread

Avocado

Peanut Butter

Almond Butter

Protein Bars (ONE & Quest are my faves)

Raspberries

Strawberries

Jimmy Dean Breakfast Frittatas (great on the go bfast)

Jerky

Beef Sticks (those CHOMPS are really good from TJ's)

Jello

WINE (don't think I gave that up lol)

What I Eat in a Day

What I Eat in a Day

I'm sure there's more out there that I could eat, but I'm kind of a picky person when it comes to the foods lol... if you know me you're prolly laughing. So from what I've had & tried newly these are things that have been getting me through & I can most definitely see & feel a difference!

FITNESS

Along with the carb cycling, I got my butt back into the gym like HARD CORE! December got me man, like I wasn't working out because I just didn't have the time, but I have been KILLING Januarary & I feel so good! I've been getting my butt there almost everyday or taking barre class on top of it. I wrote everything out in my planner... I'm a writer - I gotta see it physically to stick to it. And if that's what it takes for you then do it. Each day I focus on a different muscle group to hit. Don't forget the cardio though. I'm sure a ton of you just turned frownie faced, but cardio is def what makes me see results faster. Everyday I do something cardiovascular before lifting because that warms you up & gets your heart rate going so you can burn more doing the rest of your exercise. I'm not gonna lie my gym time has like doubled & it's annoying, but at the same time when I'm in it I don't notice it at all, I'm just breaking a sweat burnin it up!

MY GYM ROUTINE

Monday: CHEST/ABS

Tuesday: BACK/ABS

Wednesday: off

Thursday: SHOULDERS/ABS

Friday: LEGS

Saturday: ARMS/ABS

Sunday: off

Hey fit friends,

I got a new unboxing & try on haul for y'all from Queenie Ke Athletic. Ok, so to be honest I've only heard of this brand from looking up leggings on amazon. They reached out to me though in hopes to test out some products for a review. So I'm sharing what I got from them & what my first opinions are!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm quite surprised! From the quality to the style I really loved everything! You'll need to watch the haul to see all the items, find out how they fit, & if they're leggings most importantly are squat proof! I just rocked this look last night for a fun evening out. Everyone thought these mesh leggings were fire. So take a peak & discover a new brand for yourself to try out!
