There's nothing better than a sensible sleek cape to make your look go from casual to glam! Honestly it's in the cape & then of course by throwing on a heel this changed my very casual "teaching" look into something completely else. I had a full morning of teaching classes at the Bar Method today, but after we were celebrating one of our desk assistance who is moving to North Carolina.
We're going to miss you Emily!
But because of this it meant I had to figure something out to attend the luncheon and look done up, so my go to was this cape from Tobi & my favorite boots of the season from Vince Camuto... can you say "All the Wine" please! I mean for realsies & just because I love the color and these two items match perfectly together.
This combination plus some accessories can totally turn a casual look completely around, and make heads turn. Isn't it funny how a simple cape can make you feel like you're super dressy... I think it's just because it's long and something out of the ordinary that we wear so it makes you feel special.
Also, don't forget about the hair to really set your look apart. I've always loved braids and I've been playing around with them for a little while now. By no means am I a pro at these, and I still have some work to do on perfecting, but today I gave the diagonal side half do a shot... And honestly it in my opinion it didn't turn out to bad :)
Below I'll have more details on how to do...
So basically it is very similar to the Front Side Braid style that I often do. Only difference is that this time I took a larger section of hair on the diagonal from the ear & then stopped collecting hair as I passed the other ear. I just continued to braid what was in my hands to tie off.
I'm working on the video I took while styling & will post it soon under the Beauty section of my blog.
And prior to braiding, I had curled my hair using my T3 wand with the 1" barrel. This is another fave product of mine because it has interchangeable barrels! Also to help set the curls and add a little volume I always sprinkle my Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder before curling.
I have my look linked throughout this post. Some similar options are below & if interested specifically in the Tobi items you can find them attached at the top of the page :)
